The Atelier Notebook
Caring for your Polo.
With a little care, a Polo piece can be worn daily for decades. These are the rituals we recommend.
The Last On, The First Off
Put your jewelry on after perfume, lotion, sunscreen, and makeup. Remove it first when undressing. This is the single most important rule of jewelry care.
Avoid Chlorine & Salt
Remove pieces before swimming in pools, hot tubs, or the sea. Chlorine corrodes silver and accelerates gold-plate wear. Saltwater dulls the finish over time.
Store Individually
Each Polo piece arrives in a soft cotton pouch. Store pieces separately to prevent scratching. Keep them in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Polish Gently
For sterling silver, use the polishing cloth included with your order. For gold-plated pieces, simply wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Never use silver dip on gold-plate.
Sterling Silver
925 Recycled Silver
Sterling silver is a living metal. With wear, it develops a soft patina that many of our customers come to love. If you prefer the bright, mirror finish, polish gently with the cloth included with your order.
For deeper cleaning, soak in warm water with a drop of pH-neutral soap for two minutes, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Never use abrasive polishes or toothpaste.
Gold-Plated
18k Gold-Plate over Sterling
Our gold-plate is significantly thicker than standard industry plating (2.5 microns vs. the typical 0.5). With proper care, it will last for years of daily wear without fading.
Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth after wear. Avoid silver polishing cloths and any chemical cleaners — these will strip the gold-plate. If a piece begins to wear, we offer re-plating service at our Prague atelier.
Pearls
Freshwater Pearls
Pearls are organic and porous. Keep them away from acidic substances — perfume, hairspray, and citrus. Wipe gently with a damp soft cloth after wear. Never submerge in water or cleaning solutions.
The Polo Promise
Every Polo piece is covered by a two-year craftsmanship warranty. If your piece ever fails due to a fault in our work, we will repair or replace it — at no cost to you.
